Today I was an extra in an extraordinary documentary, written and produced by God and Directed by Mother Nature.
The scene opens with the runner exiting the condo’s drive on her way to run the reservoir route. Overhead and Osprey flies over with a fish in its talons. Looking to the right she sees Canada Geese and Swans floating aimlessly along the reservoir. The runner takes another corner when she notices a scent that reminds her of families dairy farm. To her left a heard of Hereford graze lazily in the pasture. She is then overwhelmed to tears as she rounds the bend to witness a meadow with too many shades of green to count, bursting with golden buttercups, all juxtaposed against a vibrant blue sky. Out of the corner of her eye she spies a snapping turtle sunbathing on a piece of drift wood. Half way home, the scent of lilacs remind her of her grandmother. A cardinal wakes her from her nostalgia and she continues on toward home.
Over come with tears of joy she turns into the condo’s drive aware of the perfection of God and feeling very blessed…
We are often unknowingly held hostage by our own ego. After conversing with a friend over an incident she felt she could have handled better. It got me to thinking of similar circumstances in my career and what I’ve learned.
First we often take things too personally; we take too much of the blame and credit in situations involving others. Remind yourself there are two individuals coming from different perspectives – We see things differently…
Secondly everything happens for a reason; Success and or failures are both lessons to be learned for our personal growth… How we handle them is a test of our spiritual growth…
When we learn to let go of hurt, angst and confusion (negative ego identifications) and start coming from forgiveness, joy and love (Spiritual consciousness) – In how we view our work, lives, and selves, we not only Let Go we Let God…
No need to hit me on the head with a two by four… I know (some of the time) when the universe is speaking to me!
Friday I’m clearing out a cupboard and a Wayne Dyer cd slips out. Saturday I’m on the treadmill in the gym and Wayne Dyer is on PBS. After leaving the gym I go home and turn on my Nook and Wayne Dyer’s book is advertised… I download the book! Sunday Wayne Dyer is on PBS again, this time I watch it with the volume on…
Since my black belt test I’ve been a drift – Without a specific goal I’ve been just going through the day like an ordinary person – Except I’m not ordinary! I’ve always had this feeling I’ve been put on this planet for an extraordinary purpose. Which is why I left nursing to pursue teaching the martial arts, so I can touch more lives! I know in my soul this was the right move just as I know I’m supposed to do something else…
I’m going to finish Wishes Fulfilled by Dr. Dyer, and I will watch the PBS special again because I know there are messages and lessons for me ( and you). Because I believe God expects extraordinary things from me… Its up to me to figure out what they are!
God, the universe or out higher power is “The Almighty” of practical jokers! Take this morning for instance. I got up at 4:45 am as usual fed the cats but instead of staying up I went back to bed for a “few minutes”. Three hours later, I awoke in a panic! I was supposed to be in work in thirty minutes instead I was running in circles (which was appropriate considering I was in my NASCAR pajamas) trying to get semi-presentible for work.
After a hair raising ten miles of road racing, I arrive at my school only two minutes late and no student. I checked the phone messages and my student had called to say she wouldn’t be in! April Fools Ginnie!
Who but God would be so masterful? I mean he’s even had the weather April like!
Have a great day and keep your sense of humor, God is watching!
