Calling On Experiences…

We didn’t just drop out of the sky! Why is it when faced with adversity or a challenge people forget how they arrived?  Our paths a full of challenges (growing pains) and each of these experiences arms us for the next. So whether you are facing a black belt test, graduating, moving away, getting in or out of a relationship. Remember how your life’s path has prepared you for this exact moment!

A Universal consciousness is available for us to plug into. Meditate each day and get connected to your spirit. Listen to its voice and remember you’re never alone…

Namaste,

Next Steps…

I’ve noticed a lot of changes in the lives of people around me and including me. Some have lost loved ones. Others have gone off to college or changed jobs or simply moved away. For what ever reason many of us are on the precipice of our next step. No matter how large or small the step maybe, it still can be daunting. Especially to those of us who don’t deal well with change.

In the next couple of months I’ll be preparing to leave a space I’ve occupied for over twelve years. The current training area of my karate school has been a source of  inspiration, heartache and celebration – Soon it will be a memory. After twelve great years we will be moving to an adjacent area in the plaza which is more affordable. Although the move should require very little labor or disruption it will be difficult to leave. There are so many “next steps” that will be left behind as we march into the future…

I wonder where this Next Step will lead? I’m looking forward to the challenges that await my martial art family and me. The path has been interesting so far…

When The Rubber Hits The Road…

There’s an old song I love called I’ve Stayed Too Long At The Fair.  It always reminds me of when its time to move away to or from something. Everyday is about growth and that growth leads us toward another phase of our lives – Or it should. Just like we outgrew diapers and third grade we outgrow who we are now. The big issue is when we become a certain age there aren’t the obvious “road of life cues,” like graduations and birthdays. Now instead of looking toward 16 and a driver’s permit we are looking toward 60 something and social security – Oops there isn’t going to be social security.  I digress, okay 50 something and a colonoscopy. See what I mean, the “road of life cues” are less obvious and far less appealing. So we need to follow our own heart and now wisdom to see where to next. Change can be challenging at any age, but we must embrace it if we are to continue to grow. What is your next thing?  Who do you want to be in the next five years? Where do you want to be? What do you want to be doing?

Me, I’m blowing it all up! Yes my next thing will happen because I’m moving away from who and what I am now… Sarah’s little girl is growing up!

Look out world – I’m BACK!

Changing States…

I was having a brief conversation with friends about  students who’ll be leaving for college and just moving in general. I’m always amused when people say they are leaving for a fresh start, to get away from it all or something that’s bringing them down. Believe me I’m not against moving or going away.  I think changing your geography when you have a purpose  like a new job, going away to school or any of the thousands of good reasons can be a growth experience. However, leaving for the sake of leaving is running away. One of the life lessons I’ve lived is no matter where you go you are there! If you’re leaving because another State is going to change your life you are wrong! The only state change that needs to happen is YOUR STATE OF MIND! If you have a self defeating attitude, poor esteem, no discipline this isn’t going to change when you leave Rhode Island!!! The only thing that will change is you’re address.

How we manage our states goes a long way toward how we develop as people. Getting to know ourselves, our true self is what this life is about. When we start understanding, accepting all that we are and truly loving ourselves, then we can move from state to state and not have to hire a UHAUL… Because WE’RE ALREADY THERE!

Enjoy your own company, when you enjoy yourself people will enjoy being with you…

Peace,

Ginnie
