Starting 2020 on the Right and Left Foot…

We are all at the metaphorical start line to the 2020 marathon; How you choose to run this race is entirely up to you. Many of you will make a New Year’s resolution others may have a goal or two, there are the dreamers and schemers who will wish or con they way to the finish line. How many will “score a personal victory this year?”

That depends everyone starts the year wanting to lose weight, get healthier, quit smoking, find a relationship, go back to school–You get the picture. The problem is they only half want it, because they don’t want to give up high caloric goodies, get up early to workout, go through nicotine withdrawal, get their heart broken, or have to study. We all want things but we rarely are willing to give up the comforts of our ruts.

People who are willing to change have a higher purpose for that change. They want to lose weight to feel better, be around for their children to grow up, be able to do more and live more fully. People are willing to change their current habits to be better because they have come to a realization they can have more and be more if they are willing to let go of past beliefs and stories. They must be willing to put themselves first, in order to give fully you need to be full.

So here is my question how are you going to run 2020? If you’re not willing to run it; It will run you…

As an aside my word for the year is Patience, I will deal with life moment by moment by putting one foot in front of the other. This philosophy has done me well in running, I don’t see how it won’t work in 2020.

Run on,

The Word For 2018

Last year I chose inspire the word for “My Intent bracelet”. This year I chose CREATE – I want to continue my momentum from 2017, building my inspirations into creations.

This past year had many wonderful highlights including training and completing a half marathon, reaching my goal weight, being in the best shape of my life. There was the travel to NYC, Las Vegas, Az, Boston and Nantucket. Time with family and friends along with new friends made.

There were challenges as any year brings but I feel better about my ability to face them.

2018,  my intentions are to CREATE more adventures, complete more challenges, give more to my students, family, friends and community…

Blessings to all remember you create your own reality, we all control how we react to the things that happen to us. Choose to react positively!

Happy 2018

Goodbye to Greetings…

Part of my after-holiday traditions is to reread my Christmas cards. I love getting and giving cards all year round but Christmas greetings are special. I’m not sure if it’s the significance of the holiday – The fact that this might be the only time you hear from certain family members or friends – It’s probably a combination of both.

I enjoy looking at them again to remind me of the many people who took the time to share a part of themselves with me during the holiday. It is also a time to reflect on the past year and to look ahead to the new year at hand. Knowing there’s always the possibility that one of these cards might be the last one I’ll ever receive from someone. Which is why I save a select few each year, just in case, but to also find among my books in the coming years so I can revisit the past, to remind me to live in the present and look forward to the future…

Greetings dear friends and family! Thanks to all who shared a kind word this past season, Blessings for good health, happiness and fortune in 2014…

Resolving Resolutions…

As we approach 2013 I’m sure there are many who are coming up with their list of New Year Resolutions – I’m even more sure these resolutions will be forgotten as quickly as the confetti is swept up in Manhattan.

Resolutions don’t work, like “fox hole” prayers they are done in a state of panic. People are dissatisfied about what they didn’t do or become in the previous year. So its understandable when given a clean slate or a fresh start we make a list of things we want to resolve.

What we need to realize is New Years Day is the day after December 31st, it isn’t any different from March 3rd! If we don’t live with inspiration and a thirst for knowledge and contribution we will remain dissatisfied with what we see as our accomplishments or to put it or plainly OUR SELVES…

We can’t change because of a day. We change because of a desire to be and do better and this is done through goal setting and careful planning. Focusing on the end – May I suggest you either read or reread one of the many incarnations of Stephen R. Covey’s 7 Habits books. This alone will resolve your need for resolutions…

Happy January 1st!

One

Here we are on day one of a new year, clean slate, fresh start, or new beginning. No matter how you phrase it we all have an opportunity to “Be More”.

My hope is to be more understanding and patient with the curves and challenges thrown my way. I feel if I’m able to avoid being flustered or angry, I’ll be better equipped to make decisions. More importantly I will be more aware of how my reactions affect those around me. I will be a better leader…

This is a mission I will be attempting one day at a time…

What is your one thing, that will make you be more?

Happy 2012!
